You are suspected of leaving the scene of an accident. Ask what behavior is being accused. Guilt for causing the accident and your obligations afterwards are different questions.
Write down what you observed yourself, when you left and what you knew at the time about damage or injury. Keep later information separate. Don't fill in missing memories with assumptions.
Discuss whether the allegation concerns failing to provide identifying details, failing to assist someone, or both. These duties do not necessarily have the same legal conditions.
Save original messages, photos and documents. Make a note of which witnesses or cameras may be relevant. Discuss safeguarding with your attorney without influencing witnesses or altering material.
A later notification does not automatically grant an exemption. The legal arrangement has strict conditions and is not a general solution for abandoning someone who needs help.
If there is still immediate danger or medical emergency, seek appropriate help. In addition, discuss the accusation and next steps with your lawyer. Do not wait for a complete reconstruction.
