You hear that the Public Prosecution Service has filed an appeal. Ask your lawyer to check the official documents. A verbal explanation does not always convey the full extent of the appeal.
Have your lawyer check the notice of appeal and any written grounds. Discuss which decisions are up for discussion and which topics can be revisited. Don't just rely on a short summary.
The appeal of the Public Prosecution Service does not automatically replace a timely appeal of your own. If you have any objections to the verdict, have it assessed immediately whether you also need to take your own procedural step.
Discuss which evidentiary issues, legal questions and personal circumstances are relevant to the appeal. Collect current documents, but carefully separate new information from previous memories.
The new hearing may concern evidence, legal assessment and punishment within the scope of the appeal. A more serious outcome is not automatically given. Discuss the concrete possibilities and risks.
Save messages about the appeal and the new hearing. Determine with your lawyer which deadlines and preparations are important and who will check that the necessary steps are taken on time.
