Criminal Law in the Netherlands.

Work, housing, care and health can be relevant in a criminal case. Discuss with your lawyer which facts matter for the decision being made and why they are relevant.

Check whether work hours, treatment arrangements and care responsibilities are still accurate. Explain changes. Do not present a plan as an existing arrangement if nobody has confirmed it.

Gather relevant employment records, appointment confirmations or other supporting documents. Ask what is needed. You do not need to distribute an entire private archive to explain one practical point.

Explain who depends on you and what could happen to work, housing or treatment. Distinguish documented facts, realistic expectations and uncertainties. Avoid guarantees about outcomes you cannot control.

Ask which information should be shared, through which route and by when. Consider the privacy of other people mentioned in the documents. A relevant summary may be more appropriate than full records.

Personal circumstances are not a guarantee of acquittal, release or a particular sentence. Keep your lawyer informed of important changes so your actual situation can be presented accurately.
